Manhattan's JCC is a fervent supporter of Jewish and Israeli cinema. One of their main goals is to create a trading floor for cinemas, connecting cinematographers with festivals worldwide. By creating a dedicated website, Manhattan’s JCC offers unique solution for both sides. No longer constant door knocking and pitching, but an arena where discovery and trade of Jewish and Israeli films interact.
Two Search Systems
Preliminary research was conducted among two types of users. We understood that in order to produce useful connections, we must first address two different types of searches. We then built different search systems to meet users' needs.
Focused Profile Pages
Focusing on two types of users led to two different display pages. It was clear that separate pages were needed in order to display slightly different types of information. Fixed grid of three columns helped divide the content into a wide part which included textual information and images, and a narrow part which included representation of the product and technical information.
Connecting The Users
The real connection between the users happens through the messaging system. The system enables the festival managers to view the movies and message the filmmakers in order to request a screening. The festival can contact the filmmaker in a personal message that opens a request for screening. On the filmmaker side, there are two options to answer the request. If he rejects the proposal, he receives several custom made messages to convey his response, in order to maintain courtesy and possibilities for future cooperation.
